School Nurse SAFE was built at the intersection of two lives — the clinician and the mother.

But the credential that matters most for this work isn't on my resume.

I'm a medical mama. My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 9 months. My son at 18 months. Both carry additional complex diagnoses. I have sat in the endocrinologist's office as the parent. I have sent my children to camp, to school, to after-school programs, and held my breath hoping the adults around them were prepared. I have written the emergency action plans, been to 504 meetings, packed the glucagon, and had the conversation with every teacher, coach, and counselor — the one where you explain, again, what to do if something goes wrong.

I also happen to be a Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of experience across emergency medicine, primary care, and endocrinology — an ER nurse, then a nurse practitioner and Certified Diabetes Educator specializing in outpatient diabetes care, most recently a school nurse managing the daily health needs of an entire school community, and a certified CPR and first aid instructor.

I know what families need from the adults around their children. And I know what those adults need to feel truly prepared. School Nurse SAFE exists because those two things, clinical expertise and lived family experience, belong in the same place.

Whether you're a school nurse, a camp counselor taking free training before the summer starts, a teacher trying to understand what your student is really going through, or a parent looking for resources to share, you're in the right place.

Safe schools start here.
